Water found on Mars
NASA had sent a rover ‘curiosity’, which is a vehicle that moves on the surface of the planet. It carries out a lot of experiments and takes samples of rocks. Miss Huddle comments “it is very clever”. It crushes rocks up and feeds power to section on body which looks at what exactly it has inside the rock. One day they found a mineral which liquid water contains which tells us that water has existed on Mars before.
Do you know what you are eating?
Everyone has been talking about the horse meat scandal. It has affected not only people but the supermarkets themselves. However, Tesco is still UK’s top retail brand despite the horse meat scandal. For only the first times in 8 years the market share has dropped by 30%.
Nutritionists warn that parents may be put off canteen meals, but 1% of packed lunches meet the nutritional standards.
Some Tesco’s everyday value lasagne contains 60% horsemeat DNA tests by the retailer have found.
The meal, withdrawn from sale on Tuesday, came from the French factory producing Findus beef lasagne, also at the centre of a row over horse meat.
Will energy prices work when the climate changes?
Energy prices are likely to rise from now until 2030 as a result of rising whole sale prices and rising transition distribution and metering costs.
The Government has just published an energy bill. Despite increases in Energy prices it allows energy films to charge households an extra £7.6 billion over the next 7 years.
That is £110 extra for each household. However there have been large increases in energy bills recently. Our reporters have been interviewing our NSFG staff to find out their thoughts on energy prices.
The reason for the rise is to get energy companies to develop cleaner energy with the hope that we can reduce out carbon emissions this should help reduce global warming.
Global warming is the heating up of the earth it is believed to be due to our increased burning of fossil fuelling. The effects can be wide reaching including flooding, heat waves and the melting of ice packs. However the effects are not completely known and may be variable.
So will the governments plan work? Environmentalists suggest it won’t, all we know is that we will be poorer.
